At the end of this module, the student will be able to administer, identify, understand, check for, apply, and/or assess:

  • A responsive, injured person
  • A scene for safety
  • Abdominal thrusts (Heimlich Maneuver)
  • Abdominal, body, eye, head, mouth, neck, tooth injuries
  • Amputation
  • Bandages and tourniquets
  • Bone fractures and dislocations
  • Breathing
  • Bruises, sprains, and strains
  • Burns (thermal, chemical, and electrical)
  • Choking

  • Gunshot wounds
  • Impaled objects
  • RICE (rest, ice, compress, elevate)
  • Severe bleeding
  • Splints
  • Symptoms of common illnesses
  • Warning signs of potential serious illness
  • When to contact 911
  • Wound care (minor and severe)
